How GDPR Will Affect Your Relationship With Leadfeeder and Your Customers—and What We’re Doing About It:

Being an internationally-minded company, Leadfeeder is well-aware, and well-prepared, for the launch of General Data Protection Regulation, also commonly known as GDPR, coming to effect on May 25th, 2018. Our team wants you, and all our partners, to rest assured that we are committed to rolling out a series of compliance-related informative emails (like this one!), webinars and training sessions to help you and your business understand the ramifications of this (sometimes-confusing) piece of E.U. legislation over the next month.

What’s the Scoop With GDPR?

As you may have heard, GDPR will change how we all have to deal with the personal data of European Union web users. The overarching goal of GDPR, is to protect data and information so it’s left in good hands, and not apt to be hacked, lost or misused in any way. Fairness, transparency, limiting data storage to its purpose, and security are all are all key principles of the GDPR legislation. So, regardless if your company is in Canada, U.S.A. or any other non-EU country, you probably have international data coming to your website, which means you have to adhere to the new GDPR legislation if you capture any personal data.

What’s Changing At Leadfeeder?

Our customer-focused teams have always honored our clients’ privacy, as aforementioned. We’re focused on positively using our Google Partnership, as well as integration partnerships, to strengthen the integrity of our product—which is why our privacy standards have always been compliant to the myriad of other safeguards we must adhere to, such as CAN-SPAM and CASL, et al.

So, although we are already doing what’s needed to comply and protect our customers and their data, we are nonetheless performing several important GDPR changes, by the May deadline.

— We’re updating our Data Processing Agreement. Strong data protection commitments are a key part of GDPR’s requirements. Our updated data processing agreement shares our privacy commitments and sets out the terms for Leadfeeder and our customers to meet GDPR requirements. New agreements will be available before the end of April 2018.

— We’re building new and updating existing features. Our team is building new features for the Leadfeeder tool to assist our customers as data controllers comply with the regulation.

— We’re updating our Privacy Notice to make sure it meets the new standards by the end of April.

— We’re coordinating with our vendors and auditing all our vendors, finding out about their GDPR plans and arranging similar GDPR-ready data processing agreements with them.

— We are ensuring the entire team at Leadfeeder is trained and aware of the implications, and we’ll continue to implement processes and structures to consider both Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default. This is not a one-off exercise, this is a continuous improvement of all parts of our business.

The above is an ongoing process plan which will be ready for the 5/25/18 deadline, and you also will be updated as changes are implemented.
