Leadfeeder has had to address some important changes this past week.
As you may know, Leadfeeder has leveraged Google Analytics data to share behavioral information about anonymous website visitors.
On February 4th, around 4pm London time, Google made a change to Google Analytics which removed features related to identifying the origins of website visitors.
As a result, Leadfeeder is no longer able to fetch new visitor data from Google Analytics.
The good news?
We have already built our own website visitor tracking script, Leadfeeder Tracker (previously Booster).
And, a large group of our customers have been using it for the past few years.
Unfortunately, Google made this change without any prior notification, affecting all Google Analytics users, not just Leadfeeder users.
Thankfully, the team at Leadfeeder has been working hard for years on a quick and effective solution to continue tracking website visitors with Leadfeeder Tracker.
Leadfeeder Tracker integrates with Google Analytics to enrich your data within Leadfeeder. Just connect your Google Analytics account to Leadfeeder. Then, add the Leadfeeder Tracker script to your site.
Let me walk you through the basics of our Leadfeeder Tracker.
What is Leadfeeder Tracker?
Leadfeeder Tracker is an alternative method that our customers have installed to get website visitor data into Leadfeeder.
This has been helpful to those not able to use Google Analytics on their site, or for most, to receive better data quality and more frequent updates.
Leadfeeder Tracker has two big advantages over getting data from Google Analytics:
✅ Company Match Rate ✅
Leadfeeder Tracker yields up to 30% more company matches as it now pulls from our own custom-built database.
Our database, developed over the past years, is built on top of our machine learning leveraging data from several sources. This combination offers a completely new level of data quality.
✅ Real-Time Data ✅
Timely follow-up with leads after they show intent is a competitive advantage. Our goal has always been to move to real-time data.
With Google Analytics, this was not possible due to only two data syncs per day. Now, with Leadfeeder Tracker, we push new leads into your Leadfeeder account 24 times per day (once per hour).
And very soon, we will offer real-time reporting.
This tracking script, also known as a tracking tag or pixel, simply needs to be copied to the website.
If you are yet to sign up for a Leadfeeder trial, you can easily install Leadfeeder Tracker upon creating your account.
For Leadfeeder users, here are some simple instructions on how to make sure you have Leadfeeder Tracker in place:
Please log-in to Leadfeeder and check if you have any data since 5th of February.
✅ If yes, you already have the Leadfeeder Tracker on your website and don’t need to do anything further. ✅
⛔ If you are missing data or see a red banner notification up top about script installation, it means that you will not receive new data in your Leadfeeder account until you install Leadfeeder Tracker. ⛔
Step 2 (If you need to install Leadfeeder Tracker):
You can find detailed instructions with screenshots in our Help Center article, but I’ve also outlined the steps below.
- Click here to go to Leadfeeder Tracker settings.
- Alternatively, click on “Your Settings” in the top right corner of your Leadfeeder app, go to the “Company” tab and click on “Leadfeeder Tracker” on the left side menu.
- Copy the script and add it on your website.
- After a few hours, you will start to see today’s lead data in your account.
The same tracking script can be used for all websites/domains that are under the same company in Leadfeeder.
We have created some quick videos about how to add the script.

Using Google Tag Manager:
Using a Wordpress plugin:
If you have set up filters in your Google Analytics, we aim to migrate them to Leadfeeder automatically. If you need a helping hand, don’t hesitate to contact our chat/email support.
Don’t have access to installing scripts on your website?
Typically someone on the marketing team will have the required access to install the update, which will take no longer than 5 minutes.
Aside from having to install an extra script on your website, which only takes a few minutes to complete, nothing else changes.
There are no changes to the product, your contract, terms or GDPR compliance.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this unexpected issue with Google Analytics may have caused. This change was due to external factors outside of our control, but we hope our quick and swift response time has lived up to expectations — something we can and will continue to control.
Thank you for understanding and patience as we continue to improve Leadfeeder for you.
All the very best,
The Leadfeeder team
